I made this trip to Jungle Adventures in Christmas Florida on a hot, and intermittently rainy day. I decided to take a chance when the rain stopped and the sun peaked out for a a minute that I could see it before the weather changed again. This swamp/bayou/zoo is built on an island in a swamp lake fed by a sulfur spring. This attribute supports the serious green algae issue of the waters and a pervasive sulfur scent through most of the park. The park is designed tech-primitive without the fancy services and decor of numerous Florida parks, you can pickup gold drinks for cash at a few ice chests. Otherwise the entrance and gift shop has some snacks available, indoors. The animals live here in captivity, but in environments not far from their native choice. The park has various scheduled tours included with admission if you arrive at the right time or wait to synch-up.  There is a boat tour once around the park at scheduled times.

A short distance west on State 50  is the historical Park Fort ChristmasIt was built not surprisingly after a Dec 25 arrival of US troops supporting the 2nd Seminole Indian wars. The fort was built entirely of local wood, in a relatively short time, and hence it is almost entirely replica structures these days. Wood does not last centuries in this environment.
